Project Manager Business Improvement and IT/Digitally enabled projects

We are looking for an exceptional Project Manager to join our ‘Projects, Digital and Change team’ to support an organisational transformation by leading business improvement and IT/Digitally enabled projects. You will be a key member of the recently established change and business improvement capability in the Operational Services Division. We work closely with business teams to improve – or design new – processes or digital services so that HSE can work in a more efficient and effective way and provide a better service to duty-holders and the public.

You will do this by leading and managing project teams who are supporting a wider organisational transformation, typically, business improvement and IT/Digitally enabled projects and ensure project objectives are clearly defined and achieved within the agreed time, cost and quality constraints meeting customer and business requirements.

You will be countersigned by the Project Delivery Head of Profession who will be closely involved in your career progression.

Higher Engineering Materials Scientist (2 year Fixed Term Appointment)

This exciting two-year fixed term appointment opportunity will be based in the Science Division of the HSE at our research laboratory in Buxton, Derbyshire. There may be the opportunity to extend the appointment beyond two years for exceptional performance in the role.

We are looking for a scientist with an understanding of the effects of hydrogen on metallic and other materials to join our Engineering Materials Team in the Major Hazards Group. This is an excellent opportunity to use your skills to contribute as part of a team to valuable industry research projects aimed at preparing the way for the future UK Hydrogen Economy.

Sample Reception Officer

We are looking for a new team member to join a busy sample reception laboratory and office within the Health Capability Group at the Health & Safety Executives (HSE) Science Division.

Within the Sample Reception Laboratory you will be responsible for booking in daily sample deliveries for analysis. The role will involve handling pathological specimens (for example blood and urine) and potentially hazardous materials in a controlled environment.

Our Health Capability Group has a wide range of technical and diverse disciplines requiring flexible and collaborative working; on occasion you will be expected to assist colleagues in their programmes of work.

We are seeking applications from strong senior leaders for this key operational role.  Field Operations Division respond to major civil contingency events and investigate a variety of serious and fatal incidents, as well as concerns raised by workers.

Alongside protecting workers in some of the highest risk sectors, your work will support both innovation and business productivity in key industry sectors in Great Britain, which includes manufacturing, public services and agriculture.

 

Microsoft Dynamics Architect

As Microsoft Dynamics architect you will provide technical leadership to guide our architectural design decisions. You will ensure the way we design and build generates strong, reusable and scalable solutions which enable us to resolve real business problems. You will have knowledge and experience with Dynamics 365, Azure and the Power Platform as well as proven experience as a Solutions Architect. You will have demonstrable software delivery leadership within Dynamics 365, possibly with a Microsoft Partner, having done enterprise level integration projects.

You will be working closely with projects, business teams, developers and user experience specialists and will thrive working openly, collaboratively and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Licensing And Permissioning Officer

The HSE’s Operational Services Division (OSD), is responsible for the administration and delivery of radiation consents, permissioning and notifications, and asbestos licencing. The Licensing and Permissioning Unit administers applications and notifications, fee payments and manages the assessment and monitoring of licensees.

The Unit is an early adopter of our digital capabilities and are currently going through changes in terms of the way we interact with customers, how we deliver the services and the systems and technologies which we use. The successful candidate will therefore be expected to be flexible in approach and understand that the nature of the work undertaken and the way in which it is delivered will change over the next 6-12 months.

User Experience (UX) Designer

We are looking for a scientist to join our Engineering Materials Team in the Major Hazards Group. This is an excellent opportunity to use your skills to contribute to valuable HSE and industry research projects to directly improve the lives of people in their workplaces and be part of a team developing a new technology area for our organisation.

This breadth of expertise underpins our particular strength in creating multidisciplinary teams to support major incident investigations and policy development, as well as undertaking high quality research.

 

Instrumentation and Testing Engineer/Scientist

This exciting opportunity will be based in the Science Division of the HSE at our research laboratory and unique outdoor testing facilities, in Buxton, Derbyshire.

This is an excellent opportunity to use your skills to contribute to innovative work to support HSE’s incident investigations, and valuable HSE and industry research projects to directly improve the lives of people in their workplaces.

You will have specific responsibilities for specifying, designing, and implementing instrumentation solutions for bespoke mechanical testing programmes, and capturing/logging the associated data.

Policy Roles

We have positions available for an EU Policy & International Co-ordinator (post A) and a Better Regulation & Policy Co-Ordinator (post B)

Post A – You will coordinate policy on key Government priorities including international trade and advise across HSE on EU business.

Post B – You will coordinate HSE’s contribution to the Government’s better regulation agenda and help provide assurance to HSE’s EU exit programme and Policy Profession.

As part of your role (both posts) you will co-ordinate HSE’s international trade policy across a number of areas including technical barriers to trade and sustainability.  You will represent HSE across Whitehall on trade policy matters whilst managing HSE’s work on current and future EU business including working with policy areas on new health and safety initiatives.
