We are looking for talented IT professionals. You will utilise and develop your IT skills in making a difference to GB Health and Safety. We currently have a number of challenging and varied roles which will make a significant contribution to our business. The roles will be part of the wider Information, Technology and Facilities (ITF) division, based in Bootle, Merseyside. In normal circumstances will require some travel to other locations. During the COVID restrictions we are currently working from home.

We are undergoing a major IT transformation programme, which includes a major investment in technology. This means HSE employees can do more to support HSE’s mission, therefore we are building a team of outstanding people who will ensure these new and improved technology services are available and optimised.

Recruitment Campaign Delivery Manager

HSE’s resource needs are varied and wide-ranging from administrative and corporate roles through to niche and often hard to fill specialist roles. These might be scientific or engineering roles and this variety makes our work in recruitment really unique and interesting.

Recruitment is HR’s current number one priority. We are responsible for identifying, planning and fulfilling HSE’s resource requirements to ensure that we have the right people with the right skills and at the right time. Power Platform Lead Developer

HSE is transforming its digital landscape. We have invested in several 3rd party software products to support our key business functions and enable us to replace legacy infrastructure which is restricting our ambitions. You will be part of the digital transformation of HSE focusing on case management (CM) and Customer Relationship Management (CRM) capabilities and their interface into the HSE digital and data landscape.

You’ll be responsible for getting the best out of chosen software applications, ensuring the configuration, and interfaces are efficient, consistent, controlled and effective. Working closely with projects, business teams, analysts and researchers and user experience specialists to identify, build and continually improve solutions, you will thrive working openly, collaboratively and as part of a multidisciplinary team focused on one or more projects with the opportunity to work on impactful, meaningful projects and contribute to the organisation realising its strategic ambitions to deliver user-centred digital services.

Policy Advisor – (Band 4/HEO)

We currently have a range of interesting opportunities in our three priority policy areas, BSR, CRD and EPD.

You will have responsibility for a number of topic areas and will need to work flexibly, often at pace, in line with the demands of the policy area you are working in to ensure that HSE interests and priorities are met. You will have the opportunity to help develop policy and processes in emerging areas of work. You will also be involved in reviewing and, if necessary, amending existing practices and processes to ensure they best support HSEs and Government’s wider objectives.

To succeed you will need to quickly establish credibility with both HSE colleagues and a range of external stakeholders by developing a good understanding of the underpinning policy, regulatory frameworks, technical and legislative issues and by maintaining and developing collaborative networks. The high-profile nature of HSE’s policy work and the rapid pace of activity coupled with working with uncertainty is particularly challenging. This will require you to be, creative and confident to raise issues to help keep projects moving forward.

HR Pay And Reward Specialist – Secondments Pay Lead, Building Safety Regulator (Band 4/HEO)

You will be part of HSE’s wider pay and reward team within the HR Division, who provide HR resource across different business areas. Your role will sit within HR supporting the BSR HR business partner and HR’s contribution to the BSR project.

You will play a significant part in ensuring the creation of the new Building Safety Regulator (BSR). The regulator is likely to draw on expertise which is new to HSE and draw from skills across Government and wider industry. To meet this demand it is likely to mean the transfer of people into HSE from other organizations. You will use your skills to facilitate these transfers and ensure the smooth creation of the regulator. The timeframe for delivering the regulator is challenging and requires you to be responsive to the emerging demands of the programme, but the impact of your achievement is far reaching. We will create roles new to HSE and will need to understand the external market and therefore the reward package we will need to offer to attract the talent we need

To deliver the brief you will build strong relationships with senior stakeholders, other Government Departments and external bodies driving satisfaction and best practice. You will also work collaboratively with work stream leads, external providers and stakeholders to advise on and influence the approach to both reward and transferring in of those joining the new regulator.
HSE has a good relationship with its trade unions, you will ensure that trade unions are engaged on your sphere of responsibility and consulted as required.

Offshore Process Engineer

We are looking for high calibre individuals who can, under challenge, think strategically, identify underlying core issues, and engage at different levels both with colleagues, site technical staff and at the most senior levels within an organisation. This is an exciting opportunity to put your technical qualifications and practical experience as a Process Engineer into practice, in a variety of forums from assisting with incident investigations, preparing reports, delivering evidence at Court and contributing to the development of HSE policy in preventing future deaths and improving workplace safety.

Energy Division’s role is the effective regulation of the UK’s Offshore Oil and Gas, pipelines, mines, diving and renewable power generation industries. We have a history of progressive regulation to secure control of both existing and emerging risks.

This role involves regulating companies involved in offshore oil and gas operations and related activities. The job holder will sit within a team of specialist inspectors who regulate Process Engineering and Operations matters on offshore installations.

Offshore Electrical & Control Systems Engineer – Control & Instrumentation Specialist

For this particular EC&I role, we are looking for a professional with a bias towards control & instrumentation systems in the offshore oil and gas or petrochemical process industry, who has the knowledge and understanding of the design, installation, operation and maintenance of control & instrumentation systems to achieve and maintain safety in the offshore oil and gas environment.

Your main responsibility is to address potential major accident hazards in relation to electrical, instrumentation, control systems & cyber security in offshore major hazard installations.

Regulatory Assurance Lead

We are looking for an experienced assurance professional, you’ll understand how to engage effectively with colleagues and be able to demonstrate you can work with others as part of a team in a collaborative and inclusive way. Data Protection Manager (ITF Band 4/HEO)

As HSE’s Data Protection Manager, you will provide direct support to the Data Protection Officer (DPO) in the continued development and delivery of an effective privacy compliance framework for HSE that ensures and demonstrates organisational accountability under the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018.

Lead on the development and review of a corporate policy suite that sets out how HSE ensures compliance with UK data protection laws. This will include (but not limited to) privacy by design and default, breach notifications management, international data transfers and handling requests from data subjects wishing to exercise their legal rights under UK data protection law.

To lead on the development and implementation of administrative systems and procedures needed to enforce, monitor, and demonstrate compliance with HSE’s privacy policies. This will include management and development of HSE’s GDPR Article 30 Record of Processing Activities (ROPA).

Support the planning and delivery of the annual GDPR audit activities that will be used to test compliance, and highlight the risks associated with HSE’s personal data processing activities.

Manage the procedure for personal data breach reporting including the capture of breach activities, reporting to the ICO where appropriate, and the production of monthly and annual statistics.
