We are looking for a Software Development Manager to join our existing IT Information Systems Team.

Information, Technology and Facilities (ITF) Division plays a key role for the whole of HSE. We support HSE in delivering its commitments in its current annual plan and its long-term objectives. As a Division, we are responsible for the delivery of key operational services that support HSE in delivering its regulatory, science and commercial objectives. These operational services include Information Technology (IT), Information Management (IM) and Facilities Management (FM) Services.

You will join the existing IT Information Systems Team as Software Development Manager, responsible for a team of Software Developers. You will establish and embed Application Development best practice principles and help to continually improve the service. This position provides an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic role at the core of HSE’s Information Systems processes.

Construction Engineering Specialist

We are looking for a Construction Engineering specialist to join our Construction Team.

Our Civil and Structural Engineers help to ensure employers across Great Britain in a range of essential industries work safely. In this role, you can utilise your technical knowledge and practical experience to influence not only individual employers but whole industry sectors.

You’ll work alongside other technical specialists to ensure the work activities of those we regulate are operating within the legislative framework by inspecting, investigating, and assessing companies.

Your work with HSE will make the most of your experience – whether that’s evaluating the guidance being given to the emergency services in a rescue situation after an incident, identifying the cause of a structural collapse or providing technical assistance to colleagues undertaking complex investigations into serious incidents involving plant and equipment. This role will broaden your knowledge and challenge your engineering skills.

Geographical Information Systems (GIS) Technician

We are looking for a Geographical Information Systems (GIS) Technician to join our Data Management and Spatial Analysis Team (DMSA) in the Analysis and Data Group.

This is an excellent opportunity to use your skills to contribute to valuable operational and scientific projects, providing services and undertaking research and analysis to support HSE’s regulation and enforcement duties. The team’s work areas include demographics, geographical risk modelling and land use planning, for both internal HSE stakeholders and external commercial customers.

Economic Analyst (CRD Band 3/SEO)

The post is for an Economic Analyst primarily to support the work of CRD. Your primary task will be to undertake and assess socioeconomic impact assessments on proposals related to the regulation of chemicals. The scale and scope of questions that the economic analyst may have to deal with will vary, but will primarily be related to the costs and benefits of chemicals regulation and the technical and economic feasibility of alternatives and substitution of chemicals of concern. You would support the Head of Socioeconomic Analysis in their work for CRD.

Using tools such as cost-benefit analysis, impact assessment and options appraisal, the economic analyst will play a crucial role in the regulation of chemicals. The analyst is expected to be at the forefront of assessing the impact of proposals to manage the risks of chemicals.

Project Manager – Fixed Term Appointment

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to join our Project Manager Group. The team is largely focused on delivering Health and Safety Science based projects to customer requirements, time and cost.

You will be the Project manager on a portfolio of science based health and safety related projects. The projects will be a mix of both HSE (internal) and Commercial projects, of low to medium complexity.

You can expect to contribute to a diverse range of projects, and be involved in both commercial and HSE work. You will be part of a team of PM specialists and will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.

Learning and Development Deputy Manager (CRD Band 4/ HEO)

The Divisional Development Team, provides a focal point and drive to fulfil these requirements. The functions of the team include oversight of all divisional development groups (DEG, B3 network, L&D); co-ordination and delivery of training requests as fits business need; consultation with our HRBP to collaborate with HRD on development opportunities; co-ordination, management and evaluation of the design and delivery of training for new starters; facilitation of training for existing staff; and support of the review and delivery of the through grading process for Band 5 scientists within our division.

The impact is extensive and affects every single member of staff in CRD to ensure the division is capable of delivering its responsibilities. In achieving this, the post holders will assist the SLT in deciding on the training needs for the whole division, team leaders in prioritising training, line managers supporting their staff in a focused manner and provide a more personalised approach to colleagues development.
