Electrical and Control Engineering Specialist

Administration Officer

This is a very exciting time to be joining HSE, who are currently at the centre of the plans to create a new Building Safety Regulator responsible for implementing and enforcing a more stringent regulatory regime for high-rise buildings, as well as providing wider and stronger oversight of safety and performance across all buildings and increasing the competence of those working on building safety following the Grenfell tragedy (read more here: https://www.hse.gov.uk/building-safety/index.htm).

In addition, as the UK prepares for the end of the Transition Period of exiting the EU, HSE is in the process of setting up a stand-alone UK Chemicals Regulator. This will result in significant expansion for HSE.

Technical Architect

HSE’s IT Services are currently undergoing a modernisation and we are now getting started on significant IT enabled Business Transformation. We are reinforcing in-house capability to give us the skills and experience we need to take our ambitious business plans forward.

This new post provides a challenging opportunity for an experienced Technical Architect to help drive our transformation. You will be primarily focused on the modernisation of HSE’s Business Application landscape, developing strategies and target architectures. You will have a key role in developing Application roadmaps and determining how we best transition from legacy solutions to modern services that help HSE to meet its business objectives. You will also have a leading role in defining Integration Architectures, directing the design of new Application services and how they best Integrate with one another.

You will be helping HSE to delivery a new set of digital services, defining the Application Building blocks required with clear direction in terms of Integration and reuse.

As a Technical Architect, leading specifically on the Application side, you will be assisting with the development of HSE’s new IT Strategy. This will include the development of standards and principles to help direct and govern the delivery of new IT services.

You will have a key role in ensuring any IT solutions, developed internally or proposed by external suppliers are fit for purpose, aligned to strategy and compliant with Government Digital Service standards/Technology Code of Practice.

You will also help to deliver and maintain HSE’s overarching Enterprise Architecture (leading on the Application Architecture domain).

You will be part of the Enterprise Architecture team, alongside Business, Data, Technical (Infrastructure) and Security architects, within the Chief Technology Officer’s division.

Data Architect

This new post provides a challenging opportunity for an experienced Data Architect to help drive our transformation. You will be focused on developing all aspects of a Data Architecture for HSE, including developing and maintaining a Corporate Data Model, designing or assuring solution data models, supporting data management and data migrations for HSE’s new Application Services and leading on data governance frameworks (including GDPR). As a Data Architect in HSE you will have a key role in ensuring any Data related aspects, and Integration, of IT solutions developed internally or proposed by external suppliers are fit for purpose and compliant with Strategy and Government Digital Service standards/Technology Code of Practice.

You will also help to deliver our new Technology Strategy, Information Management Strategy and Enterprise Architecture (leading on the Data Architecture domain).

You will be part of the Enterprise Architecture team, alongside Business, Technical and Security architects, within the Chief Technology Officer’s division.

Senior Fire Scientist/Engineer

We are looking for an experienced Fire Scientist to join our Fire and Thermofluids Team in the Major Hazards Group.

Your role will be largely focused on research and testing programmes concerned with fire safety and protection measures across industry (typically construction, offshore, warehousing, and mining sectors).

This is an excellent opportunity to use your knowledge and skills to contribute to innovative work and consultancy advice to support the Health and Safety Executive (HSE) including the newly formed Building Safety Regulator, which will directly lead to maintaining standards and improvements in safety.

Principal Registered Gas Engineer

We are looking for a Principal Registered Gas Engineer to join our Engineering team in the Major Hazards Group. This is an excellent opportunity to use your skills to lead the HSE gas incident investigation team, and contribute to innovative work to support valuable HSE and industry research projects to directly improve the lives of people.

You will primarily be part of a team of mechanical, electrical and gas engineers delivering incident investigation and experimental testing, but you will also collaborate with technical experts across many other disciplines.  You can expect to contribute to a diverse range of work within the health and safety sector, especially HSE incident investigation, but you can also expect to be involved in project work for HSE and industrial clients.

Geographical Information Systems (GIS) Administrator

We are looking for a Geographical Information Systems (GIS) Administrator to join our Data Management and Spatial Analysis Team (DMSA) in HSE’s Analysis and Data Group.  This is an excellent opportunity to use your skills to contribute to valuable operational and scientific projects, providing services and undertaking research and analysis to support HSE’s regulation and enforcement duties.

The team’s work areas include demographics, geographical risk modelling and land use planning, for both internal HSE stakeholders and external commercial customers.  You will be part of a team of GIS specialists and there will be opportunities to collaborate with technical experts across many other disciplines.

User Administrator

We are looking for someone to join our existing Service Management Team as a User Administrator. This position provides an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic role at the core of HSE’s Service Management Processes.

As a User Administrator you will achieve a high level of customer satisfaction in IT Services, IT User Administration and Access Management.

You will establish, achieve and maintain Service Standards for IT User Administration and Access Management.

You will ensure user accounts are established, changed and deleted swiftly, efficiently and effectively to support business requirements.

Software Developer

As part of an internal development function within HSE’s Information Technology and Facilities Division, you will join a team responsible for the development, testing and support of HSE applications. The applications are hosted on a number of technologies (e.g. Ingres; SQL) and developed using a variety of tools (e.g. OPEN Road; .NET; C#; SharePoint; HTML5).
