Information Management Practitioner (ITF Band 5/EO)

As a UK regulator, HSE collects, processes and produces a huge amount of information relating to our regulatory activities and we have legal obligations as a government department to ensure that we are managing this information in accordance with our statutory obligations and can be both accountable and transparent in our decision making. HSE’s Bootle-based Information Management Team (IMT), is responsible for providing advice and guidance on the effective management of information across the organisation.

An exciting opportunity is available for 2 x Band 5 (EO) Information Management Practitioners to join the team on level-move or promotion. Although, the posts could be undertaken from various HSE office locations, regular travel to Bootle (and other locations) will be required. As you will be working as part of a Bootle based team where you will need to develop knowledge and information management skills and experience, it should be assumed that the successful candidates will be required in Bootle, on average, 3-4 days every week. You should be willing to travel to various locations including other HSE offices, HSE’s Science Laboratory in Buxton and various stakeholder locations.

As part of the Information Management Team, the post holders will provide day-to-day support to HSE on all aspects of information management, promoting best practice and delivering a number of specialist services and making the best use of new technologies and responding to the changing needs of the organisation.

Information and Records Manager (ITF Band 3/SEO)

We have an exciting opportunity for a Information and Records Manager to join the Information Technology & Facilities Division (ITF).

To lead a team of subject matter experts to provide advice and guidance to HSE in respect of information handling and security, information lifecycle management and the interpretation of policy, ensuring performance meets or exceeds service level agreements and key performance indicators. Develop, implement and continually review and refine HSE’s information management including its strategy, policy and processes to promote good practice and maintain compliance with statutory obligations. Ensure best practice is embedded within HSE and facilitate access to information to maximise its exploitation and re-use.

Support information risk owners in discharging their responsibilities, working closely with Information Governance and Disclosure and Information Technology colleagues. Invoicing, Debt Recovery and Project Accounting Team Leader (PFPD Band 4/HEO)

This role is part of the corporate finance team and reports directly to the Head of Cost Recovery and Expenses Team which is part of HSE’s Planning, Finance and Procurement Division (PFPD). It is based at HSE’s Science and Research Centre and provides vital support to HSE’s projects that develop evidence based regulatory policy, understand why accidents happen and HSE’s commercial activities. We are looking for someone with a finance background, is self-motivated and has a proven track record in challenging existing practices and delivering change.

The role plays a key part in the project management and accounting function which includes ensuring project costs and income recognition journals are accurate to inform in-house project managers, invoicing and HSE financial statements.

HR Strategy, Policy and Employee Relations Specialist – (Band 4/HEO)

HSE is at the centre of the plans to form a new Building Safety Regulator (BSR) responsible for implementing and enforcing a more stringent regulatory regime for high-rise buildings, as well as providing wider and stronger oversight of safety and performance across all buildings and increasing the competence of those working on building safety following the Grenfell tragedy.

You will be part of the HSE’s Human Resources (HR) Strategy, Policy & Employee Relations team, who provide a HR point of contact for the TU in order to maintain productive employee relations, provide advice and liaise with key stakeholders on HR Policies, working collaboratively with Civil Service Employee Policy (CSEP) and create and negotiate new policies for HSE. You will provide professional, independent and consistent casework advice and contribute to the targeted action to reduce sickness absence, as part of HSE’s attendance management approach to help improve efficiency and productivity in HSE.

IMT Regulatory Specialist Inspector

We have an exciting opportunity for a Regulatory Specialist Inpsector to join our team of inspectors.

The post offers a real opportunity to influence and improve safety across a wide range of activities both on and offshore, including ageing installations, new exploration and production programmes, safe decommissioning and the most high-tech innovations.

You will be Energy Division’s focal point with a number of offshore installations managing our regulatory relationship with duty holders in the offshore oil and gas industries. You will travel by helicopter to offshore installations and floating production and non-production installations, usually once a month and for anything from one to four days at a time. From time to time, you may be expected to undertake unplanned visits offshore at relatively short notice.

It is critical to this role that you are able to develop relationships and cooperate in teams to effectively regulate the offshore industry. You must be able to engage successfully and with confidence from the offshore tea-shack to the oil company boardroom. We are looking for high calibre individuals who can, under challenge, think strategically, identify underlying core issues, and engage at different levels both with colleagues, site technical staff and at the most senior levels within an organisation. Process Safety Specialist (Band 3/SEO)

We are looking for a Process safety Specialist to join our team, you’ll work alongside other technical specialists to ensure the work activities of those we regulate are operating within the legislative framework by inspecting, investigating, and assessing organisations.

Chemicals, Explosives and Microbiological Hazards Division (CEMHD) is responsible for the GB-wide regulation of onshore major hazard premises and installations as well as the chemicals manufacturing sector as a whole. This involves regulatory interventions in workplaces, engaging with key industry stakeholders and providing assurance to Government and the public that major accident risks are being properly managed.

The sectors we regulate in CEMHD are essential to the country’s economy and social infrastructure, but they often involve hazardous substances and processes with potential for catastrophic accidents. The purpose of CEMHD is to make sure that the businesses that present a risk of such catastrophic events are managing those risks properly.

As a Specialist Inspector of Process Safety, you will be an essential part of the work that CEMHD do. You will use your technical knowledge and expertise to regulate major hazard industries and to influence whole sectors to improve health and safety standards, thereby helping to prevent catastrophic accidents.
