As an Investigations Officer you will work as part of a team who will utilise a range of investigative processes to ensure an effective response and investigation of building safety related issues concerning high risk buildings falling under the remit of the Building Safety Act 2022. The Investigator will consider victims and carry out criminal prosecutions in line with the Act.

As a Senior Investigator you will utilise a range of investigative processes to ensure an effective response to, and investigation of building safety related issues concerning high risk buildings falling under the remit of the Building Safety Act 2022. You will support the Principal Building Safety Investigator in managing a team of specialist investigators, disclosure officers and field intelligence officers carrying out a wide range of regulatory Investigations and criminal prosecutions.

You will be the investigatory decision maker, ensuring that the quality and consistency of the investigatory approach leads to fair and effective decision-making. Monitoring and managing the performance and delivery of investigation, disclosure, and intelligence teams, ensuring that the delivery of strategic performance objectives is in line with BSR expectations.

As the Field Intelligence Officer you will work in collaboration with both internal and external partners recording and developing intelligence that meets both service level agreements and legislative guidance.

You will maintain awareness of innovation within intelligence to ensure implementation of latest techniques and tactics, best practice, and information. You will prepare and deliver intelligence products to clearly and accurately inform decision-making and provide advice and give detailed guidance and information to others.

As an Assistant Investigator you will work as part of a team who will utilise a range of investigative processes to ensure effective response to, and investigation of, building safety related issues that fall under the remit of the Building Safety Act 2022. The assistant investigator will consider victims and assist in carrying out criminal prosecutions in line with the Act. You will be expected to use your own initiative, with support and direction from colleagues.

You will be supporting quality and consistent investigations that lead to fair and effective decision making. Gathering and collating evidence and intelligence to produce a case file for submission to your line management and support case progress.

We are establishing the new Building Safety Regulator (BSR) with the intention of creating high standards of safety for high-rise buildings and enabling people to feel safe within their homes. Working with residents and the industry to make sure everybody has a voice, BSR will oversee changes to the safety and performance of all high-rise buildings and raise industry professional standards year on year.

You will conduct audits into Local Authorities and Private Sector Building Control Services across England, delivering risk based audits of RBAs to ensure competence within the agreed portfolio. You will monitor and manage the performance of current cases and escalate risks and issues to the Audit Manager. You will also be prepared to instigate and support the enforcement process and procedures, ensuring the consistent application of the Enforcement Guidance tool in different settings to make the correct risk based decisions. In some scenarios, you may come across issues which will require enforcement actions.

As the Building Safety Regulatory Lead you will be responsible for the effective and efficient delivery of regulatory compliance within high-risk buildings.   Working with multi-disciplinary teams from partner regulators, including building control professionals and fire and rescue services, you will regulate to either.

1)    Ensure building work involving high-risk buildings is complaint with relevant building regulations, or
2)    Assess the management of building safety risks in high-risk buildings in occupation.

Your role will develop as the BSR grows and therefore flexibility to move within the role is expected.

You will investigate any issues which are presented to the Regulation of Building Control Profession within the agreed portfolio, ensuring that required specialist information has been sought to determine next steps such as enforcement actions. You will monitor and manage the performance of current cases and escalate risks and issues to the Lead Investigator. You will also be prepared to instigate and support the enforcement process and procedures, ensuring the consistent application of the Enforcement Guidance tool.

As the Disclosure Officer you will support the Specialist Investigations team through the provision of a comprehensive and effective disclosure service in relation to criminal, civil and regulatory enforcement cases. You will have responsibility for assessing, summarising and scheduling all material gathered in relation to investigations.

You will provide disclosure related advice/guidance to senior managers, Senior Investigating Officers and case teams as and when required, in relation to third party material, evidence, continuity, and material that may undermine the prosecution case or assists the defence.
