Health and Work Branch, Respiratory Health Policy Advisor

We have an exciting opportunity for an individual to join us within the Engagement and Policy Division (EPD) as a Respiratory Health Policy Advisor.

As part of this role, you will work on a range of topics relevant to LEV (or respiratory health policy) at any time. Fluid Flow Modeller

This is an exciting opportunity for a Fluid Flow Modeller to join our team in HSE’s Science Division. You will apply mathematical modelling and numerical analysis to a wide range of health and safety-related applications. The successful candidate will be involved in modelling anything from releases of cryogenic hydrogen to explosions to the transmission of SARS-CoV-2.

We are seeking a Scientist to join our Fluid Dynamics Team in the Risk and Human Factors Capability Group in a growing organisation. The team carry out numerical analysis across a broad range of fluid flow problems using various techniques including Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD). Our main expertise lies in the analysis and modelling of fluid flows using approaches ranging from simple empirical and integral models to large complex three-dimensional CFD simulations. We apply mathematical skills in a wide range of health and safety-related applications areas such as gas dispersion, two-phase flows, fire and smoke movement, source terms and explosions.

Engineering Materials Scientist

We are looking for a scientist or engineer to join the Engineering Materials Team in the Major Hazards Group. The team supports HSE through materials science-related research, with focus on achieving Net Zero and building safety, and incident investigation. This exciting opportunity will be based at the HSE Science and Research Centre, our research laboratory and unique outdoor testing facilities, in Buxton, Derbyshire.

You will work within the Engineering Materials Team supporting HSE’s Science Division research related to Net Zero and the use of hydrogen for heating and transport, as well as supporting HSE incident investigations. As an Engineering Materials Scientist you will conduct both research and incident investigations to a high standard of rigour and maintain accurate records of your work and its results. You will communicate the outcomes of your research/investigation to colleagues and stakeholders using both written reports and oral presentations.

Administrative Officer

The main function of the Administration Officer role is to support the work of HSE Inspectors in frontline operational delivery. In Field Operations Division (FOD) our purpose is to prevent work-related death, injury and ill-health. We apply a range of regulatory tools to improve health and safety, bringing together different interventions to achieve that impact. We influence and engage stakeholders, create knowledge and awareness of health and safety risks, and encourage behavioural change through assessments and direct interventions including inspections and investigations.

In this role you will contribute to the important work HSE does. You will work closely with your colleagues to deliver the key responsibilities of the post. You will be flexible and able to respond to changing work priorities at pace, which will allow you to develop your skills and knowledge. In all that you do you will be proactive, innovative and focused on delivering HSE’s business, as well as able to plan and prioritise your work. You will be required to provide support on both a local and national basis according to business need.

This role is ideal for individuals with experience in testing digital and technology services, looking for their next challenge.
