Administration & Policy Support – Respiratory Health policy

A crucial part of our mission to protect people and places is to reduce work-related ill-health, and we have one role available in the Respiratory Health Policy Team working with colleagues on the area of COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) Regulations which is vital in supporting this objective.

You will work closely with your colleagues to deliver the key responsibilities of the post. You will be flexible and able to respond to changing work priorities at pace, which will allow you to develop your skills and knowledge. In all that you do you will be proactive, innovative and focused on delivering HSE’s business, as well as able to plan and prioritise your work. You will be required to provide support on both a local and national basis according to business need and able to work both as part of a team and autonomously.

The role may be made permanent at the end of the two years Fixed Term Appointment.

Building Safety Regulatory Lead (In Occupation)

Assistant Investigator

The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) is establishing the new Building Safety Regulator (BSR) with the intention of keeping high-rise buildings safe and enable people to feel safe in their homes. Working with residents and industry to make sure everybody has a voice, the BSR will oversee changes to the safety and performance of all buildings and raise industry professional standards year on year. the BSR will serve as a lasting tribute to those who have lost their lives due to poor and substandard buildings and will help ensure tragedies of such proportions as Grenfell are consigned to the past. As an assistant investigator, you will work as part of a team who will utilise a range of investigative processes to ensure effective response to, and investigation of, building safety related issues that fall under the remit of the Building Safety Act 2022.

As part of your role you will:

Work as part of the BSR Investigations Team to gather and collate information, intelligence and evidence to inform regulatory decisions and support viable case progression.
Consider residents/affected parties and assist in carrying out criminal prosecutions in line with the Act. You will be expected to use your own initiative, with support and direction from colleagues.
Support quality and consistent investigations that lead to fair, effective, necessary and proportionate regulatory decision making.

Solution Architect

We have an exciting opportunity for a Solution Architect to join our team within the Information Technology & Facilities Division (ITF) at HSE. This Solution Architect role is to lead on the Applications Architecture domain, and direct and govern the design and delivery of new application components, and the end-to-end design that uses those components to deliver new digital IT solutions.

You will have a key role in developing application roadmaps, target architectures, and reusable application components, and determining how we best transition from legacy solutions to modern services that help HSE to meet its business objectives

This is a very exciting time to join HSE. A series of new change programmes are now mobilised to deliver new Digital IT solutions that will replace legacy systems and improve processes. Each programme supports a specific operational area within HSE, but there will be commonality across the solution building blocks that require designing and integrating. Building Safety and Construction Division Office Support

This is an exciting opportunity to join a small and friendly team helping to deliver key business support functions to the Building Safety Regulator (BSR) Director of Building Safety Office (DOBSO) and the Senior Management Team. You will support in the delivery of an efficient operation of the BSR DOBSO; supporting a range of business meetings and engagement events; will focus on providing quality administrative support to the BSR, Policy and Sector colleagues supporting a range of corporate functions. You will need to be flexible and proactive as you will work with other teams across the BSR.

Working within the Director of Building Safety Office will put you at the heart of the BSR programme, provide insight into the building safety programme and help keep people safe in their homes.

As part of this role you will have the fantastic opportunity to complete the NVQ level 3 Business Administration apprenticeship, paid for by HSE, alongside your day-to-day role during the 18 months. This currently averages 20% of your work time dedicated to study.

Radiation Specialist Inspector

This is an exciting opportunity for a Radiation Specialist Inspector to join our team in HSE’s Field Operations Division.
Our Radiation Specialists help to ensure employers in Great Britain work safely with radiation across a range of sectors (e.g. industrial, medical, oil and gas).

In this role, you can utilise your considerable scientific technical knowledge and practical experience to influence not only individual employers but whole industries and sectors.

Working as part of a unique national specialist team, you will carry out your own inspections and investigations, taking enforcement where necessary, including the serving of notices and completion of prosecution reports. You will also provide specialist support to other parts of HSE.

To excel at this scientific technical role, you will have Professional experience in radiation protection at a senior level. Experience of providing advice on compliance with the Ionising Radiations Regulations, and ideally the Radiation (Emergency Preparedness and Public Information) Regulations, to a range of duty holders in different sectors, for example by acting as an individual RPA or as part of an RPA body. Or equivalent experience from a country outside GB. Sound analytical skills to identify underlying gaps and deficiencies related to risk management;
