Occupational Health Inspector

As an Occupational Health Inspector, you’ll make sure employers safeguard their worker’s health across a range of essential industries. The role is an excellent opportunity to broaden your knowledge and skills but also add crucial experience to your record. You’ll investigate and assess companies to control health risks and make sure they comply with the law, while providing expert advice and developing policy for the sector at large. You’ll also work alongside other HSE colleagues and instruct team members on legal requirements and best practice.

This role is highly specialised and technical, so you’ll need to demonstrate considerable experience in occupational health. Strong stakeholder management skills and analytical skills are also essential, along with decision-making under pressure and be able to create detailed reports. You should also be a registered specialist community public health nurse in occupational health (SCPHN – formerly part 3 of the NMC Register) and hold a full UK driving license.

Marine Engineer

Offshore Marine Engineers are tasked with using their in-depth knowledge to regulate marine-related industries, prevent major accident hazards and protect both workers and the environment. You’ll provide expert advice to a wide range of businesses, carry out inspections, and help improve safety across the sector, engaging with a huge variety of stakeholders in the process. Naturally, this role requires substantial experience in marine engineering and maintaining safety in offshore environments. This includes knowledge of risk assessment, design and inspections as well as codes and standards. You should also be able to work offshore for several days at a time. A degree or equivalent qualification in an engineering or science background is essential, along with membership as a chartered engineer (or equivalent) and a full UK driving license.

HM Specialist Inspector – Human Factors Specialist

As our Human Factors Specialist, you’ll use your breadth of knowledge and expertise to protect workers across many essential industries. The role offers a wide variety of stimulating work and you’ll be in contact with everything from large petrochemical complexes to hospital x-ray departments and even fairgrounds. Working with other technical specialists, you’ll carry out inspections, provide advice, produce reports and make sure businesses operate within the law. As this is a technical and specialist role within Human Factors, you’ll already be well-versed in applying Human Factors expertise in the workplace. You should also have a practical understanding of how to apply this knowledge in an engineering and information security context. A degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or Physics, chartered membership of a relevant professional institution and a full UK driving license are also essential.

Explosives Safety Specialist

As an Explosives Safety Specialist, you’ll use your breadth of knowledge and expertise to protect workers in the explosives sector. The role offers a wide variety of challenging projects and you’ll work with a diverse range of employers, anything from multi-national munitions manufacturers to small fireworks stores. Working with other HSE specialists, you’ll carry out inspections, provide advice and make sure businesses operate within the law. You’ll also help shape the future of industry standards and guidelines, all while gaining invaluable experience to add to your record.

As this is a highly technical role, you’ll already be well-versed in the manufacturing of explosive materials, combined with strong communication skills and the ability to analyse data and plan effectively. You should also have a degree in Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or Physics, chartered membership of a relevant professional institution and a full UK driving license.

 

Higher Project Manager

We are looking for an experienced Project Manager to join our Project Manager Group. The team is largely focused on delivering Health and Safety Science based projects to customer requirements, time and cost. You can expect to contribute to a diverse range of projects, and be involved in both commercial and HSE work. You will be part of a team of PM specialists and will collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.

Your role as a Project Manager will be to manage a portfolio of science based health and safety related projects. The projects will be a mix of both HSE (internal) and Commercial projects, of medium to high complexity/risk.

Senior Project Manager

IT Change, Transition and Release Manager

Information, Technology and Facilities (ITF) Division plays a key role for the whole of HSE. We support HSE in delivering its commitments in its current annual plan and its long-term objectives and as a Division, we are responsible for the delivery of key operational services that support the HSE in delivering its regulatory, science and commercial objectives. These operational services include Information Technology (IT), Information Management (IM) and Facilities Management (FM) Services.

Why is this role so important to HSE?  As ITF’s Change Transition and Release Manager you will be responsible for ensuring the safe, coordinated and controlled delivery of new and changed IT Services to HSE IT environments.

By joining the existing IT Service Management Team as Change Transition and Release Manager you will ultimately be responsible for protecting HSE’s live IT services and will provide you with an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic role at the core of HSE’s IT Services.

You will be involved in the coordination, integration and continuous service improvement of Service Management functions with the opportunity to develop a mix of strategic communication, leadership and planning skills.

You will work for the Head of Service Management Team and be a senior member of the ITF division.

CRD also offers stakeholders a comprehensive conference and events training programme and the roles will include attendance at our UK events for training purposes.

These posts are through-graded from Band 5 (SO) to Band 4 (HSO). You will join a structured training programme, which over the course of a minimum of 18 months, will introduce you to all the elements of your role, enabling you to gain in depth knowledge of the regulation of chemicals and develop valuable experience in regulatory science.
