We have a unique opportunity for two Offshore Mechanical Engineering Specialist Inspectors to join our internationally respected Energy Division; a key operational arm of HSE, responsible for the regulation of the UK’s Offshore Oil and Gas industry, pipelines, mines, diving and renewable power generation. Infrastructure Operations Engineer (Hosting)

Risk Scientist

We are looking for a Scientist to join our Risk Team in the Risk and Human Factors Capability Group based in the Science Division of the HSE at our Science and Research centre, in Buxton, Derbyshire.

As a member of the Risk Team you will be involved in a range of work relating to hazard identification and risk assessment, with a focus on assessing low likelihood, high consequence risks and how these risks can be managed effectively.

In recent years, the team has been involved in: Developing methods and tools to assess chemical major hazards; Understanding emerging energies hazards and risks; Reviewing risk assessments to improve aviation and rail safety; Understanding how to manage the risks for UK-based spacecraft launches; The understanding and control of the risks to occupants of high rise residential buildings

You will be expected to contribute to the diverse portfolio of projects undertaken by the team. There will be a strong emphasis on team working and collaboration.

Capability Team Lead

The Risk Team, comprises process safety and major hazards risk specialists. As the Capability Team Lead in the Risk and Human Factors Group you will work alongside Technical Team Leads to manage operational demands and ensure we have the scientific capability and capacity to meet work demands.

You will need to be an experienced team leader with a background in operational management and people development to join the leadership team.  In addition to providing pastoral line management support for around one third of the team (approx 8 staff) you will be required to manage day to day operations with the assistance of a Band 3 (SEO) line manager.

You will have responsibility for overseeing performance, attendance, development, and wellbeing of the Risk Team. You will need to engage with Project managers, commercial managers, and our Chief Scientific Advisers Office (CSAO) to ensure that projects are properly resourced and appropriately scheduled.
